First Reconciliation & First Eucharist

The seven sacraments are central to the life of a Catholic Christian. We believe we experience God’s love and graces in the reception of all the sacraments. In order to receive the sacraments at Sacred Heart, families including children must be registered parishioners. Children must have received the sacrament of baptism and completed 1st and 2nd grade Faith Formation.
Preparations for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Eucharist begin in the second grade and are open to children who are registered for the Sacred Heart Faith Formation program.
The Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as Penance, or Penance and Reconciliation) has three elements: conversion, confession and celebration. In it we find God's unconditional forgiveness; as a result we are called to forgive others.
First Reconciliation Children registered in the Sacred Heart Faith Formation Program will receive First Reconciliation in the winter of second grade.
Catholics believe the Eucharist, or Communion, is both a sacrifice and a meal. We believe in the real presence of Jesus, who died for our sins. As we receive Christ's Body and Blood, we also are nourished spiritually and brought closer to God.
Children registered in the Sacred Heart Faith Formation Program will receive First Eucharist in the spring of second grade.
