VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteers are central to the implementation of all our parish programs.  To be a volunteer the following is mandated by the Archdiocese of Newark for those working with children and young people up to 18 years of age.  Detailed information on this process is provided by visiting the Archdiocese of Newark website.

• Sacred Heart volunteer application. (please call the parish center for application)
• Attending Archdiocese of Newark safety program - “Protecting God’s Children”. 
• A criminal background check.

Qualifications for Faith Formation volunteers

• Complete all Archdiocesan regulations.
• Attendance an August meeting to prepare for classes.
• Proper preparation for classes each week.
• Actively participant in Sunday Mass each week. 

Sacred Heart Faith Formation is currently looking for the following volunteers:

1. Catechists - Elementary Sunday Program
   - meets every Sunday from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
   - Grade 2 is Sacrament Prep for Reconciliation and First Eucharist
2. Catechists - Middle School Program
   - Grades 5 & 6 meet on the First Wednesday of each month from 7:00 PM -8:30 PM
   - Grades 7 & 8 meet on the Second Wednesday of each month from 7:00 PM -8:30 PM
   - Specialized lessons provided
   - Service Projects
3. Substitute Catechist - Elementary and Middle School Program
   - all grade levels needed
   - available on Sunday morning from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
   - available on either the first Wednesday or second Wednesday evening of the month from 7:00 PM - 8:15 PM
   - substitutes do not need to be available both days, you may choose either Sunday or Wednesday
